Nuwerust Dorperstud

Nuwerust Dorpers was established in 2006 when Hendri van Wyk Snr started upgrading the dorper flock on the farm , Nuwerust, Kenhardt, Northen Cape , South Africa. Today , Nuwerust consists of 2000 Stud ewes in Production. The ewes are primarily from John Dell , Ben Grobbelaar and Jannie Visagie.

We produce sale rams for commercial and stud farmers. Our young rams are raised extensively and are not given any additional feed until they start the preparation stage for sale. The young ewes are bred at 10 months. We select for high fertility and ewes which don’t become pregnant during this first mating period are discarded from the stud. We are committed to giving excellent dorpers to commercial farmers.

Our aim is to breed for excellence – Excellent conformation , excellent natural coping ability as well as excellent meat characteristics. Our animals need to grow fast and in order for us to do this, we select for this excellent characteristic.

No expense is spared when it comes to the care of these animals we love so much. Every possible amenity is in use to ensure the comfort of the creatures God has entrusted to us. Careful, long-range planning, meticulous attention to detail and a flair for evaluating potential prospects has created Nuwerust dorpers that, today, enjoys a solid reputation for not only producing the world’s finest Dorpers , but also providing essential services. Genetics are also available to the world in forms of embrios and frozen semen for most countries. Domestically fine rams and ewes, of which spectaculaur World champion rams and their sons are combined to some matriarchs of our ewe family, and the product is available to you.

In 2012 we also Started Nuwerust White Dorpers. They consists of 500 ewes and one of our Head sires are Lucky ( 2012 World Senior Champion ram).
